Loathe Apple iPad? HP Slate Coming With Atom And Flash Soon, Tablet War Tooe

Want a tablet device like iPad but be hesitant for Flash NOT in the iPad ?  Don’t worry now, there are a number of Windows-based offerings coming soon. Spanish technology blog Clipset.net is claiming to have tested the HP Slate, which shares many characteristics with the iPad, revealing that it is set to be launched in June and will be priced at approximately €400(or about $541), and then be available for sale in Europe by September. HP’s device is confirmed to feature an Intel Atom processor, USB connectivity, a memory card reader, a back-mounted webcam, Flash support, and runs Windows 7 — basically it has all the things people wanted the iPad to have. I think just the fact that it runs windows 7 and flash support will be the best reason for many people to buy this instead of the Apple iPad or iPhone.

Geek Week in Denver

This week in Denver is going to be a total geek fest! I’m pretty excited about three great events: Monday Feb 15: Jason Huggins on Web-application testing with Selenium Tuesday Feb 16: Denver Tech Meetup Thursday Feb 18: Flex and The Cloud (I’m presenting at this one.) There is a rumor that we might record a Drunk on Software episode after the event on Thursday. Apparently there are some people who disagree with my definition of “Flex app”. This could be the episode where we move from an Oprah style show to a Jerry Springer style of show. Sounds like fun to me.
