Loathe Apple iPad? HP Slate Coming With Atom And Flash Soon, Tablet War Tooe
Mar 20, 2010 AIR, Flash, Flex, General, Tutorials
Want a tablet device like iPad but be hesitant for Flash NOT in the iPad ? Don’t worry now, there are a number of Windows-based offerings coming soon. Spanish technology blog Clipset.net is claiming to have tested the HP Slate, which shares many characteristics with the iPad, revealing that it is set to be launched in June and will be priced at approximately €400(or about $541), and then be available for sale in Europe by September. HP’s device is confirmed to feature an Intel Atom processor, USB connectivity, a memory card reader, a back-mounted webcam, Flash support, and runs Windows 7 — basically it has all the things people wanted the iPad to have. I think just the fact that it runs windows 7 and flash support will be the best reason for many people to buy this instead of the Apple iPad or iPhone.

Flash Builder 4 brings with it a ton of new features for Flash and Flex developers. The new data features, Flex 4 support, and tight integration with Flash Professional makes it a very exciting release. The one area where things could be improved is the ActionScript editing features. Our friends over at FDT have been putting in a host of great new features that I only wish were in Flash Builder.

As we all know, Adobe Flash has some troubles on its hands recently ( see Flash NOT in the iPad ). It is a competition between the big name companies, I think it more like a war. But as a result, will Steve Jobs be happy if Flash dead? Or can Adobe get more benefit if the UNION crumbled?

Something for Why Over 95% Of Browsers Use Flash, but Flash NOT in the iPad
Mar 18, 2010 AIR, Flash, Flex, General, Tutorials
Apple has been adamant about not supporting Flash on the iPad. Despite over 95% of browsers use flash, and although the consistent bashing from critics, but I think Apple is successful, because many websites have been changing — like National Public Radio(NPR) and Wall Street Journal(WSJ), in process of building a version of its Web site designed specifically for the iPad, the sites(contents) will be basically the same, but the flash bits will be replaced by HTML5. NOBODY can say the iPad may hasten the death of Flash, but I think it is only the first of many similar stories that we can look forward to—if Adobe keep the format of Flash closing. Even HTML5 is still being developed now, even this technology isn’t widely used now.
